Like I said yesterday, I am committed to getting more physically fit this year and start running again. I decided to swing by the local Barnes and Noble the other day on the way to work to pick up a copy of "Run Like a Mother." I cut through the magazine section (like I always do) on the off-chance that the new issue of Simply Handmade would be there - lo and behold it was. The issue with my project on the cover. I was so surprised and so happy to see it that I took a couple of photos:
This is my second cover ever and it's definitely kind of thrilling. I was a little disappointed with the photo; I asked them not to photograph any of the paper seams but they did (you can see it in the low right of the photo). I was shocked they didn't Photoshop it out. And the image seemed a little saturated to me. Overall, though, I'm thrilled and was honored when the editor contacted me for the project. Definitely a high point in the crafty career!
Here are my photos of the project, which I made for Pebbles, Inc. last year.
It's just a chipboard box turned upside down and made into a little gift box. Here's the interior:
In addition to the whole fitness thing, I'm going to try to keep better track of the little things more this year. I found this little set of monthly notebooks in Target in December and thought they would be perfect. I'm hoping to use them like little tiny art journals - words and pictures. Most importantly, no pressure. I've been seriously slacking on writing things down for a long time. Time to step up the journaling and remember the reason why I'm a part of this hobby.
Thanks for stopping by - have a great day!
