Something New; Photocentric

Today I get to share a project I made with some fun stamps from Photocentric. If you are not familiar, Photocentric makes a fantastically cool acrylic stamp making machine. (You can read all about this great tool and watch a little demo video right here.) This particular set was designed by my friend Amanda Jones of The Studio Challenges & Teresa Collins Design Team fame - for the free download Photocentric provides each month. I've purchased Amanda's stamps before so I jumped at the chance to work with these. Here's my first project; a 3 x 6 mini album....

For the base of this album I used lots of white cardstock cut into tags. All of the patterned paper, embellishments, stickers and die cuts are Jillibean Soup (specifically Grandma's Lima Bean Soup and Sweet & Sour Soup.) It was my daughter's 9th birthday this week so this album is a tribute to her at 'almost' 9. I used the stamp 'everyday you' as the prompt for brief one line journaling throughout the album. Each page features a recent photo of her, or something related to her, and a one line description 'every day you ________.'

Here's my cover. I always make the cover first thinking it will guide the design of the album, but then wish I had waited to do it until after the pages were assembled. Which way do you prefer?

Here you can see the little heart border stamp (stamped in Jenni Bowlin, Malted Milk) the butterfly (heat embossed with Zing, Butter) and the Everyday You sentiment (heat embossed with Stampin Up,' White) - layered up with lots of Jillibean.

Here's the first layout.  I used the days of the week background with the butterflies and the 'everyday you.''

I cut apart the sentiment here and fit it into a die cut shape:

Here's the chevron border, heat embossed (with Zing, Butter):

I stitched through each row of chevrons for more texture:

And here are the hexagons, also heat embossed (with Zing, Butter):

This is the back cover:
I loved working with this great, versatile set. Can't wait to see what Photocentric has up it's sleeve for next month's download!

We're down to the last few days of summer vacation here. I'm all for getting back into a routine but I'm so sad this year about the end of the season.Normally I can hardly wait for Fall but this year I'm not. Not even a little. Maybe because our summer was marked by a horrible event, I seriously don't feel ready to let it go. Luckily, there are some fun things planned for Fall; a visit from my Sicilian cousins at the end of September, a road trip to Virginia in October and our last-minute planned trip to Disney in November. I will focus on those things! How about you - are you looking forward to Fall?
