A Happy Monday

Yipee - some happy news today.!

I made the Little Yellow Bicycle Cycling Team for the Makin' the Grade release. I got the email yesterday in the midst of painting and it definitely put a little pep in my step. So excited that I get to work with that collection & a group of super talented co-cyclists. Back to school lines are a fave of mine and I love Little Yellow Bicycle so it's a win/win!

So yesterday I began what will be a massive re-do of my craft space and gigantic purge. Step one: paint the hideous paneling that covers every inch of the walls in the 'bonus' room of our house, which also serves as our bedroom. Here's a photo where you can see a bit of the paneling in the background:

As I mentioned yesterday, Benjamin Moore Super White is my color of choice. Painting dark paneling white is a labor of love. The section I did yesterday -the dormer side of the room that houses my 'office' (about a 3rd of the room) took an entire gallon of primer, nearly a gallon of high-quality paint, plus 2 Aleve :) It's a fairly large room so I was able to split it up so I'd have my own space. So far it's worked out fine, aside from that whole paneling thing. I'll put together a little before & after once the space gets put back together. I'll also post my floor plan. Maybe you will be inspired to carve out your own little space from a little corner in your home!

Step 2 - the dreaded purge. And this one's going to be huge. While I was starting to put things back into the crafty area last night (so I could paint the rest of the room) I noticed it looks so much better (and more inspiring) without all the clutter. I've made a vow to get rid of everything that is not being used. If it doesn't fit in my limited space, I can't have it. No exceptions. (If you live in the Monmouth County area - large yard sale coming soon!) Having less stuff is going to be good for my mojo - I can already tell!

So far I'm happy with the progress, even though I probably won't be able to lift my arms today. Can't wait to share it with you!
