A Moxie Fab Challenge

Ahh, Saturday. Hope your weekend is off to a good start!
Have a card today that I made yesterday for the Moxie Fab 'I'm Sew Excited!' challenge. (Did you see - it's almost time for Gallery Idol again - are you going to try out?) Ok, back to this challenge.....to use sewing-related materials in an innovative way...here's my card:
...a few sewing-related things going on here, most notably, that flower. I made that with a die I picked up at the Expo - an un-even-circly-flower nested die. (Cuteness aside, the best part about this die was it only cost about $5!)
I used it to cut the instructions from an old sewing pattern. Then I brushed them with some white paint and zig-zag stitched the edges to give it some weight. I kept the card fairly monochromatic since there are a lot of details. In this close up, you can see the embossed background;(a sewing pattern from Tim Holtz) and a close up of the flower:
materials: cardstock: Bazzill, American Crafts; spool, pin: Maya Road; tag, stamp: Stampin' Up; embossing folder: Tim Holtz; twill: craft supply; misc: vintage sewing pattern

Back tomorrow with a card challenge for The Studio. Now it's off to my daughter's dance recital.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

What a delightful card! I adore the littel spool topped pin. :) Cutting the flower from a sewing pattern, adding a little paint and the stitching all add up to a fabulous flower! That die is awesome!

Ive been watching for news about GI! Thanks for the update. :)

I want this card! :)

This is definitely a favorite for me. The stitched flower, the wooden spool pin & of course the fantastic embossed cardstock in the background. This is fabulous!

Good luck with the challenge at Moxie Fab...something tells me you will be a winner!

Darling card...who makes that die...such a wonderful bloom!!!!

I hope to squeak in some time to throw my hat in for GI...we'll see though, I have a horribly busy week at work.

This is just incredible, Valerie! I am loving that big, layered flower, especially with the added stitching for texture. And the tiny spool on the pin? Perfection!

Stunning! I love the stitched detail on your flower (what a great die) and the touch of paint softens it perfectly. I really NEED some of those gorgeous little spools.
