Welcome Baby Keira!

Congratulations are in order for Angie Lucas and her family, who just welcomed Baby Keira into their world. In honor of this momentous occasion, Ella is hosting a blog shower for Angie. How cool is that?  Any and all can link up and offer some advice and baby favorites for Angie to check out.

I am happy to present my post of baby faves for Angie - a few items that were extremely handy when we had little babies in our house. (Which of course, feels like just yesterday...)

Baby Washcloths & Wipes
Babies get pretty dirty and we were advised by our pediatrician that overuse of baby wipes (which he referred to as "chem-wipes' due to their high chemical content)  could lead to serious rashes and irritations of the baby's 'nether regions'. We tried to avoid them when we could, but frankly, we just didn't have enough of these:

Baby washcloths..cheap, indispensable - you can't have enough of these! They have a different texture & are much softer than the grown up version so they won't be abrasive. Especially if you are using them in place of wipes. For practicality sake, we used them only at home - on the go - we were a devout Costco/Kirkland brand baby wipes family.
..Another essential. We still use them - I even use them when I'm scrapbooking for ink & paint clean up. They are very handy, very portable and they come in this huge box!

The Excersaucer
At around 5 months, it's time to get this out of it's box...one of the greatest inventions to baby-kind, ever! It takes up a lot of space and gets a little noisy but only hangs around the house for about 3 months, then they are crawling and walking and don't want to be confined.

Storage/Low Shelving
Cute storage boxes and low, sturdy shelves were another must have for me - the toys pile up fast and once my kids started crawling and walking, they loved that they had their own shelves where their things were easily accessible. Here's a cool one with room underneath for toy baskets, and even a little place to sit.

The toys varied in size throughout the years but this Ikea system really has grown with us and it very customizable. We are still using it today.

Books
Last but not least, some reading material to put on the shelves. My kids loved these books by Sandra Boynton. I have our chewed-up, mangled copies in storage now. We read these over and over and over...

Angie, I hope you find my little contribution useful and I wish you and your family happiness and health!! Looking forward to seeing photos & numerous scrapbook pages of your sweet little girl!

The Boynton books were my personal favorites-I still have them and cannot bring myself to pass them on. Hopefully I will have grandbabies one day that I can read them to!

Valerie,

Clearly, I'm a bit late to the party! (Don't sleep much these days, not that I mind...) THANKS for these recommendations! Now I'm VERY happy I got lots of baby washcloths at my showers. And I've bookmarked that cute Ikea shelf! I'm sure the need for that will arise sooner than I think...
