Sunday at The Studio

Interesting things revealed by the team at The Studio this week as a result of this prompt:

Guilty pleasures... everyone's got at least one, surely? What is yours? Feature it on a scrapbook page and tell the world!

Lots of topics I could have covered here, each way more embarrassing than this one. Someday I'll share ;)
For this layout, though, I focused on magazines. I am obsessed with magazines. When I worked in Manhattan, I would spend a fortune at the amazing newsstands there. Luckily now, I'm forced to shop the selection at the supermarket and local book store. Here's what I made (first):
I have always had a thing for magazines. I don't know why. Even as a small child I remember sitting in my mom's hair salon reading Ladies Home Journal. Maybe the glossy representations of perfect lives, beautiful food and homes and 'things'...I'm sure a psychiatrist would have a theory. Anyway, my love grew as I got older - first to teen heartthrob magazines (anything covered with Andy Gibb!) then fashion magazines as I became a teenager, then home decoration and design when I started design school at college. Now it's any and all. I'm an equal opportunity reader. Just wish I had more time to read them!
materials: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper, newsprint flowers: Jillibean Soup; punch: EK Success; spray ink: Studio Calico; liquid glass: Close To My Heart

And here is the second layout I made, since the first one just wasn't cutting it for me.
materials: cardstock: Bazzill kraft; patterned paper: Jillibean Soup, Studio Calico; flowers: Jillibean Soup; letters: Sassafras Lass; frame: Maya Road; spray ink: Studio Calico; buttons & typed words: Scrap Rat

Even though I prefer this title, I realized I liked the first layout better. Although, I am especially loving those Scrap Rat typed words at the bottom.

I would love to see your guilty pleasures - so why not give this challenge a try? The sponsor this month is the Scrap Rat shop - supplier of vintage findings for scrapbooking & cardmaking (as seen on layout above). Also, Scrap Rat is looking for a December guest designer. Amanda's products are so fun to work with - this would be a fun spot to have!

OMG!! we are like guilty twins! i too, am a magazinaholic! my addiction started at my grandma's house. at every visit, my siblings would play with toys or watch tv, but i would sit and read all gran's magazines. she would also save them for me when she was done with them. i have a big cabinet in my room FULL of magazines. they are my bibles! so happy to know i am not alone!!

Valerie, both layouts are great, but I love the title in the first one!

I have to admit that I´m a magazine lover as well, I spend way too much money monthly on getting them shipped all the way back here to Bolivia. I have the whole family room filled with magazines and theres a big portion of my SB space full of them as well, I need to do some purging but I really can´t get rid of them, especially those scrapbook trends one, I´m not letting go of one single issue of them...lol...

Thanks for sharing, hope you don´t mind if I scraplift one of your pages for my personal album:)

Im equally impressed with both layouts! I do love the more vitage feel of the second, those words along with that flower make my vintage lovin' heart happy!

Im pretty sure I had a Tiger Beat cover of Andy Gibb on my bedroom wall at one time. ;)

I commute out of Penn Station, so I hear the magazine love! I try to only get one if I've finished my book and need something to read on the ride home, but I love getting to flip through them all the time when I'm waiting for my train!

What a fun layout! I love magazines too! Before I started cardmaking, I used to read a lot of fashion magazines but now cardmaking magazines took over my cabinets :)
