200 Post & My First Giveaway

Yipee - welcome to the 200th post! Wow - and I thought I'd have nothing to write about. As I move past my 200th post, and my 1 year blog anniversary approaches, I'm a little amazed at all that has happened in the last year.
I actually started my blog at the prompting of a friend. I resisted for a long time and she encouraged me to go ahead and write, and I didn't even have to make it public if I didn't want to. So that's what I did. For a month and  half I wrote the blog and vowed I'd never put it 'out there.' I was very reluctant to share my personal paper-crafty world with....well, the world. That was until one day in December...Paige Evans - Northridge Media editor, scrapbooker extraordinaire, new mom & all around creative person asked 'do you have a blog because I'd like to link a post on the Cards Blog to you?' I panicked and pondered what to do. I ultimately realized that opportunity was knocking and I sent her the link. How amazed I was to see that people started to read it! And leave nice comments, too?

So here I am a year later - so grateful for this blog because I've gotten to know so many great people all over the world. I'm a lucky girl, indeed! So in honor of the 200th post I'm hosting my first giveaway ever. Oh, and it's a good one! I've selected a few of my favorite things for you...

First up: A vintage matchbox full of little typed words from Amanda Jones' Scrap Rat Shop (I'm in love with these little words and I think you will love using these on your projects, too!)
And how about this, too:

What we have here: the Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper pack (sewing themed - my absolute fave from Cosmo) a Tim Holtz 5.5 x 5.5 Configurations box (picked up one of these for me, too!) some Tim Holtz mini pins and mini paperclips (I use these things on everything!) and a 10 pack of my favorite manila tags from Scrapper's Cove (perfect for inking, misting, whatever - love them!)
All you have to do to win this little selection of Val faves...just leave a comment telling me what you are going to do with the Configurations box, as I now have no idea what to do with mine. I just know I love it and can't wait to make something out of it! I'll draw a random winner on Saturday morning. (You don't have to be a follower of this blog to win, but is sure would be nice :)

Thank you so much for coming to my blog. For taking time from your day to read my words and for the nice things you say. I can't even tell you how much that means to me - thank you!!

And one more thing....I found out yesterday that blog pal and frequent inspiration source Laurel Seabrook passed this little ditty on to me:
So cute - made me smile. The rules for accepting this - I have to tell you some things about me then pass on the love to 5 of my blogging friends. I'll do 5 random factoids:.
1) I wish I had more time to work on craft projects.
2) Wish I could spend at least one day a week driving around by myself taking pictures of stuff.
3) I love going to showers (baby, bridal...you name it) and always try get a seat up front where I can see the stuff.
4) I am terrified of large flying/hopping insects and have a hard time adjusting when Spring rolls around and bugs return.
5) I hate houseplants and don't like to garden. (might be connected to #4)

Hard to pick just 5 for this prestigious honor! Here are some of the gals who inspire me & make me smile on a regular basis - go see for yourself:

Karen
Cindy
Sara

Ok...now I'm off to eat that Indian corn 200! Get your comment in by Friday at midnight E.S.T.!!

Couple of things, I won't try to be long. 1. How cool is that? To start a blog because of a request from a craft magazine? Congratulations! 2. I didn't realize you had a follower button so I had RSS Feed, but now my face shows up. 3. Awesome giveaway. I think those boxes are cool and it would be really neat to decorate with patterned paper to match my living room decor. 4. Lastly, please keep blogging, I'm so inspired by you and thank you for the award!

Ooh, gorgeous goodies. I'd use the box to store display some stones and seashells etc that I've collected. I'd paint the boxes blue with a layer of white over, and distress the layer of white so the blue shows through. I'd use a few seaside scrap papers or something in the recess of the boxes.

Thanks for the chance to win! xx

I'm not a follower, but a lurker (on RSS feeds). Does that count? lol... But you don't have to put my name in the hat. Just leavin' some lovin'...

Congrats at reaching 200! I have no clue what to do with the configurations box other than throw some patterned paper/mod podge/embellies on it and keep it in my scrap room!

How fun--200 posts!! I love visiting your blog--always inspired! I RSS feed...but will make sure I hit the "follow" button as well. As for the boxes--I would probably hoard them until I thought of a really great use for them! Love the ideas of using scrapbooking paper over them or painting them...maybe even just leaving them just the way they are but add metal frames and 3D butterflies...etc. on top. THANKS for sharing and for your wonderful giveaway:)

Aurora sent me to your blog, and I love it!! Congrats on your 200th post!
I would like to win those words because I would turn them into a collage and put it in the empty vintage frame I bought recently. Right now it's hanging on my wall, empty. :)

My most immediate thought was to create some kind of Christmas decoration with the configurations box. Maybe make little scenes in each sections.... like a little Christmas cottage in one, a tree in another, a deer in another.... hhhmmmm.... just thinking as I type!
I always love reading your blog and seeing all your stunning crafty creations. Keep the inspiration coming I say!!!
