Step 1: First of all, go and pick the 2 ugliest, most mismatched papers in your collection, that you honestly can't ever see yourself using. Take a photo of them.
Step 2: Yes, you saw this coming, didn't you?! Make a page using those papers. You can add any other embellishments you like, but those 2 papers must play a prominent role in your design! Take a photo of it.
Step 3: Upload your layout AND your horrendous papers 'before' photo.
The papers must be obviously ugly to begin with - no choosing something you secretly like!
Ok, so here are my "uglies" (forgive me AC and Elsie). Ugly is such a harsh word. I'd rather say 'very difficult to use.'
Fresh from my class with Julie, where she taught us how to alter the paper to suit our needs, I felt pretty confident I could fix things here and proceed without a hitch. Well, it was a little more challenging than that. Here's my first attempt to change the leaf paper:
A transformation, no? But a little much. I don't hate it but it wasn't what I needed for my photos. So I pressed on. Ultimately, I grabbed a fresh sheet of the AC paper and wound up with this finished product:
I scaled back here a bit. I decided to add pops of red by painting random leaves with acrylic paint. Then I drew scallops with black paint then trimmed them out to make the borders. For embellishment, I stamped flowers with black ink onto the pattern and cut them out. Used the polka dot on the big chipboard letters.
Hope you got to join in on all the Cyber Crop fun yesterday! It's not too late to jump in - you have until September 4 to link up. The prizes up for grabs are great so why not have a go at a challenge or 2?

I like your final product. Fun layout for a group of pictures. I might have to try that challenge, I have many more than 2 candidates for "difficult to use" papers. I like the idea of stamping over them.
lol.. ugly. i have a fair amount of ugly over here too.
i thought the leaf paper was cute..though definitely difficult to use.
Im not sure you could do ugly in a closet with the light out! ;) All your stuff rocks and this is no exception! I might have to try some of the techniques you mentioned when I try my hand at this challenge!
Dude, I am impressed! I need to take this challenge!
Love your finished layout! The paper does not look ugly anymore huh! I think I have loads of 'ugly' paper in my stash too.
You rocked this challenge!! Love the LO!
Love the altering. At least you used the papers, I would have thrown it in the giveaway pile. :)
