Out my front door...

it’s snowing like crazy. The news is filled with the reports of plow drivers working overnight and road salt supplies, stores being wiped out of bread and milk. New York City isn’t getting the full blast so the reporting is more focused on us for a change, the Jersey shore. (Bundle up Guidos!) Not sure what else is in store for us today but looks like about 6 inches so far.
Here’s the view out the front door. It probably wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so windy. It’s like a crazy blizzard out there.

The only thing that would make being snowed in on a Saturday even better would have been if my first Studio Calico kit had arrived. Oh well, I’ll have that to look forward to next week. Specifically the 9th, when UPS has promised to deliver.
How excellent that it’s baking themed? A perfect way to kick off my subscription! Coincidentally, I’ll be all about baking for the next 2 weeks.

While I’ve got some paper projects I want to complete, and I’ll be dying to rip into that kit, cookies will have my attention for the next 2 weeks. I have 2 jobs for this week – both Valentine related. Amounting up to about 130 iced heart shaped cookies by Friday. The following week another 80 for a birthday party. The birthday girl is a chemist at a local fragrance plant – so these cookies will be in the shape of perfume bottles. They should be fun. Going to use some luster dust for the first time (or so I say). I need to order this today.
This company has the best copper cookie cutters in the coolest shapes.
Ok, enough about cookies - back to paper...Yesterday, I spent the day making this mini album. (Coincidentally shaped like a baked good!)
I used a large Stampin’ Up stamp to make the pages. It is intended to be a thank you card, and I’ve used it that way, but this time I cut it apart to make templates for the patterned paper shapes.
To make the process go faster, I used all Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday & kraft. I ran the kraft through a crimper (a brand new tool for me that I could seriously become addicted to!) to resemble the cupcake paper. On the left hand pages I sewed only the sides to make pockets for the photos.

For a really small album, (about 6 pages) it’s holding a bunch of photos. Journaling is on a strip tucked into the last page.

So today, besides baking at least 3 batches of shortbread cookies, I’m going to attempt a cover submission for Ella (on my least favorite topic: me), and the Ella weekly sketch. Let’s see how that goes…
